John Tershowski, 84, of Ottawa, IL, died, Sunday, January 24, 2010 at his home Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Lourduraj Ignatius, and Rev. Douglas Williams, officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am, Saturday, January 30 at the Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home. John Tershowski was born April 11, 1925 in Ottawa, IL., to the late Sam and Josephine Tershowski. He married June Johnson on October 29, 1946 in St. Louis, MO. He was the Owner and Operator for Foremost /ABC Liquor for over 39 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Naplate, Men's Club, VFW, American Legion Post #33, and was also a church server and usher. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He is survived by his wife June, two sons John Jr. (Margaret) Tershowski of Clearwater FL. and Tim Tershowski of Ottawa, a daughter Kathy Tershowski of Tempe AZ. and one granddaughter Kaia. Two sisters Theresa Willet and Anne Maccono both of Ottawa He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Mike, Steve "Skippy Tershowski and three sisters Mary Norton, Olga Toftoy and a sister in infancy. Pallbearers will be Jim Miller, Bill Willet, Bill Mucci, Ray Wielgopolan, Ron Degere and Larry Bruck. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials may be directed to Donors Choice.
