John G. Loeffler

John G. Loeffler, 71, of Peru, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, August 17 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob Rose officiating, with military honors following. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, August 16, with prayers at 3:45. John was born to John and Frances (Schaibley) Loeffler on November 12, 1946 in Ottawa. He attended St. Frances Grade School, Ottawa High, and IVCC. He married Ramona Callahan on January 8, 1966. They celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He loved NASCAR races on Sunday with his son John, fishing, and attending special events with his family. John was an ever-present jokester; he loved making everyone laugh and always had a joke on-hand. He worked at Borg Warner, Streator Unlimited, and Clover Technologies. He will be greatly missed by his family and those he worked with. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; his son, John J. Loeffler; his brother, Fred (Rita Miskell) Loeffler; and his sisters, Sharon (Ronald) Saager and Theresa Wheaton. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Laura Lynn Loeffler; his parents; one nephew, Dean Saager; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorials may be directed to his family. Showing kindness and concern for one another was his way of life. Please continue his legacy.
