John J. Kuk

John J. Kuk, 92, of Ottawa, IL, died, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at his Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM at Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Msgr. Jerome Ham officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm, Friday, November 13, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 4:00 PM. John Kuk was born April 10, 1917, in Aurora, IL. to John and Elizabeth (Popp) Kuk. He married Leona Chorzempa on April 22, 1939 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Spring Valley. He died April 25, 2003. He retired as a Supervisor from Libby Owens Ford in 1975. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Knight of Columbus. John was a die hard Cubs, Illini, and Notre Dame fan who also had a deep Catholic faith. He is survived by One Son John J. of Ottawa, four daughters Joan (Jerry) Eich, Dolores "Dee" Thompson both of Ottawa, Carol Pavy and Renie (Frank) Rathbun both of LaSalle, Il; nineteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three brothers, Tom of Arizona, Louis of Ottawa, and George of Joliet; and one sister Ann Barton of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Mary and two brothers, John and Steve. Pallbearers will be Ron, John, and Scott Thompson, Jim Eich, and Steve and David Pavy, and Frank Rathbun Jr. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Church and Ottawa Hospice.
