John James Mason III, 30, of Bloomington, formerly of Ottawa passed away July 4, 2012 at Bromenn Hospital in Bloomington. Funeral service will be 12:30 Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Bladen officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 - 12:30 Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. John was born December 7, 1981 in Ottawa, Illinois to John James Jr. and Sue Ellen (Burgener) Mason. He was medically retired from the United States Army. He married Stacey Cowan May 18, 2009 in Anacoco, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Stacey Mason, his parents John and Sue Mason of Peru; two brothers, Shawn Mason of Peoria and Derek Mason of St. Louis; his niece, Kaitlyn Mason; and his grandmother, Marilyn Burgener of Peoria. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth Burgener; and paternal grandparents, John and Edith Mason. Pallbearers will be Josh Rice, Matt Bruck, Bob Jackson, Jeremy Debernardi, Jordan Goldman, and Eric Crowhurst. Memorials may be directed to the family.
