John Hess

John B. Hess, 69, of Marseilles passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca. He will be buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris with military honors. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home has been entrusted with his services. John was born September 20, 1948 in Ottawa, Illinois to Burton and Mary (Flaherty) Hess. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He married Phyllis Happ May 1, 1971 at St. Peter and Paul Parish in Peterstown, Illinois. He retired from Exelon in 2004. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; three sons, John Hess Jr, Aaron Hess, and Nathan (Wendy) Hess; four grandchildren, Audri, Andrew, Molly, and Zachary Hess; and his siblings, Donna (Richard) Virgo and Burton (Sharon) Hess. He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Dylan Hess; two nephews, Richard Virgo Jr. and Jason Happ; and his brother-in-law, Richard Bankes. Memorials may be directed to his family.
