Joe Denbo

Joseph H. Denbo, 68, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, March 24 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Ralph Deming officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to 1 pm, prior to the services, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Joe was born April 23, 1948 in Ottawa to Paul and Victoria (Kerrigan) Denbo. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving as Sergeant during the Vietnam War 1st Calvary Infantry from 1968-1970. Joe received several medals during his service; the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the AIR Medal. He was a laborer for Local 393 and 911 from 1988-2004 and a member of the American Legion. Joe was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing. He took great pride in his Harley Davidson's. Everyone who rides a Harley Davidson please help lead the pack for dad on one last ride, he wouldn't want it any other way. He is survived by his former wife, Judy Denbo; four daughters, Tiffany Denbo, Jaeger Vega, Tenile Denbo, and Baleigh Denbo; his grandson, Brodi Denbo; one sister, Peggy Beckman; and his friend, Tami Tarochione. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Govero. Pallbearers will be Brodi Denbo, Rob Harsted, Jared Mitchell, Donny Waite, Danny "Beaver" Erickson, and Michael Jessen. Honorary pallbearers will be April Young, John Dougherty, Kenny Harsted, Tommy Katrein, and Lance Gabehart. Memorials may be directed to the family.
