Joann Laatz Hustis

JoAnn Laatz Hustis, 88, of Marseilles passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at her home.

Funeral Services will be at 2 pm, Monday, November 11 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Jennifer Amy-Dressler officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 pm, prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

JoAnn was born September 1, 1931, in Ottawa to Ernest and Margaret (DeArmond) Laatz. She married Arthur W. Hustis on September 4, 1954; he passed away on September 13, 2009. JoAnn started working as a telephone operator at Marseilles Telephone. Her love of photography and writing forged her journalism career. She started at the World Press in Marseilles and retired from The Ottawa Times after 25 years. After retiring, she worked at the Morris Daily Harold for over 10 years and freelanced for Antique Week. She loved antiquing and gardening and collecting camels and American Brilliant cut glass.

She is survived by her children, Roger Ernest Hustis of Marseilles and Adele Anne Hustis of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, LaVerne C. and Merwyn A. Laatz; and her sister, Phyllis Jean Waite.
