James "Jim" Butzen, 57, of Dayton Township, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held 4:00pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 - 4:00, prior to services, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Jim was born November 25, 1956 in Bloomington, Illinois at St. Mary's Hospital to Bernard and Teresa (Bucher) Butzen. He grew up as a farmer in Groveland, Illinois. He was a union member for laborers local 393 in Marseilles Illinois for over 25 years. He was the "Sergeant of Arms" for the local. He is survived by his lifetime love, Laurie Butzen; two sons, Shane (Jamie) Butzen and James (Jenae) Butzen; two grandchildren, James and Joclyn Butzen; one brother, Ben (Erin) Butzen; and five sisters, Christine Bateman, Rose (Fred) Hajny, Cecelia (Randy) Cleveland, Nesa (Richard) Rieuf, Shelly Zywica, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Marion "Woody" Davis; and two brother-in-laws, Tom Bateman and John Davis. Memorials may be directed to his family. He was loved by all.
