Jeremiah Crowley

Jeremiah "Jerry" "Toby" Crowley, born Oct. 10, 1940, Ottawa, IL, ascended into Heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010. By his side at the time of his passing was his loving wife Mary who he married at St. Columba in Ottawa on November 17, 1973. Also present were his devoted children Meghan, Shauna, Breanne (son-in-law Tommy and grandchild Kieran Zaby), Keegan, Seamus and Darby, all from Huntington Beach, California. His Father, Joseph "Checker", mother Evelyn "Sue" (Shumaker) and brother William predeceased him. He is survived by and the proud brother to, Joe, Denis (Deanna) all from Ottawa, Jim (Sue) of Lake Forest, Il., Tim (Judy) of Sarasota, Fl., Penny Magoonaugh (Kelly) of Ottawa, Candy Gaudet (Gerry) of Canada, Kevin of Two Rivers, WI, Kalah Hauser (Jim) of Gurnee, Michele Witt (Craig) of Cary, Brian (Sheila) of Arlington Heights, and 33 delightful nieces and nephews. Toby attended St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa and graduated from Parks College of Aeronautical Technology of Saint Louis University where he received his degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was also a proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force and was based in Tachikawa, Japan and later at headquarters in Sioux City, Iowa. Toby also served at the Headquarters of Strategic Air Command (SAC). He received commendations for meritorious service and numerous letters of commendation for work related to service at levels of high security. After his service Toby settled in Southern California and was founder and co-owner of C & D Plastics. To spend more time with family Toby moved on, and up until his death owned and operated several Honey Baked Ham stores in So.Cal. for over 30 years. Aside from his devotion to family, church, and community, Toby loved breeding and racing thoroughbred horses here in the United States, Ireland and France. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Columba Church, with the Rev. David Kipfer, officiating. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 am, Saturday, January 8 at St. Columba Church arrangements are entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Keegan, Seamus, Darby, Mike, Dana and Chris Crowley. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Angeles Clinic Research Foundation in honor of Jeremiah Crowley.
