ARLINGTON HEIGHTS -- Jean (Vercimak) Sulek, 60, of Arlington Heights, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ottawa Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Sulek was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Ottawa, to Michael and Irene (Durdan) Vercimak. She married Stanley Sulek on Jan. 9, 1971. He passed away April 29, 1997. She was a CPA for Madia Accounting Services in Naperville. Jean graduated from Marquette High School, the University of Illinois with a degree in accounting; and DePaul University with a master's degree in business administration. She had a love for gardening, flowers and trees. She took her farming background to the city and worked endlessly on her yard. She was a member of St. James Church in Arlington Heights. She is survived by her mother, Irene; two sisters, MaryAnn (John) Dorsett of Mendota and Diane and (Steve) Carr of Ottawa; two brothers, Dr. Michael (Penny) Vercimak of Mendota and Joseph (Barb) Vercimak of O'Fallon, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; and guardian of Cesily Mason. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Stanley Sulek; and a niece, Laura Vercimak. Pallbearers will be Sam, Michael D., Joseph, Adam and Zachary Vercimak, Jeremy Wheeler, Chester Sulek and Brian Corwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke and Jake Vercimak. Memorials may be directed to Marquette High School. Obituary written by family members.
