Jay Michael Marks

Jay Michael Marks, 46, of Ottawa, formerly of Elko, Nevada, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of life will be held on Jay’s birthday, April 22. The time and place will be determined at a later date. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jay was born in Elko, Nevada and raised by his mother, Louetta (Smiley) and stepfather, Glenn McKnight. He met Jennifer Litchfield in 2004, and it was love at first sight. They were married on November 22, 2005 in Elko.

Jay enjoyed bowling, going to concerts, and Star Wars. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Braves. Jay is best described as generous and caring; he would do anything for anyone and give the shirt of his back for someone in need, without thinking twice about it. He had a big heart and a roaring sense of humor.

Most importantly, Jay loved his family and friends. He was a loving husband who would do anything for his wife, whom he spent 15 loving years with. Together they traveled to many states and visited stadiums to watch his favorite teams. They had a great life together, it just wasn’t long enough. He loved playing LEGOS and laughing with his nephew, Aiden. Jay and Jennifer looked forward to their monthly BASH dinner dates with their niece and nephew, Emma and Michael.

He is survived by the love of his life, Jennifer; his sister-in-law, Amanda (Martin) Malagon of Ottawa; his nieces and nephews, Michael, Emma, and Aiden; his mother-in-law, Tammy Pfaffenberger of Indiana; his good friend, Heidi; and his two cats, Chloe and Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Butch.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Cancer Society, in memory of Jay.
