Janice E. Alms

Janice Alms, 75, of Marseilles, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa with Rev. Hope Klutsey officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Janice was born January 3, 1938, in Streator, Illinois, to Oliver and Angeline (Szramek) Voss. She married Stanley Alms on August 27, 1955, at St. Casimir Church in Streator. She worked at The Times in the mailroom. She had been a Cub Scout Den Mother at St. Patrick's School. She was also in the parents and teachers club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her husband, Stan; four sons, Mike, Steve, and William (Barbara), all of Ottawa and Greg (Michelle) of Lake in the Hills; two daughters, Julia (Mark) DuBois of San Antonio, TX and Elizabeth Reside of Marrietta, GA; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Carol) Voss of Cedar Rapids, IA and David (Robin) Voss of Georgia; and three sisters, Debra (Gilbert) Petre, Glenna (William) Pottinger, and Michelle (Walt) Henne all of Streator. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Voss. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rivershores Care Center in Marseilles.
