SENECA -- Janet M. Howland, 63, of Seneca, died Monday, March 24, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca with Monsignor Raymond Boyle officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca. Janet was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Ottawa, to James and Marie (Szfranski) Mitchell. She was a waitress for more than 25 years at R Place Restaurant in Morris. She attended Seneca High School. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to dance. Survivors include her mother, Marie M. Mitchell of Seneca; two sons, Rodney J. (Marla Ellspermann) Seibert of Seneca and Keith (Sue) Seibert of Quincy; two grandchildren, Jamie Gravesen of Aurora and Jessica Lear of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet dog, Gizmo. She was preceded in death by her father; her grandmother and grandfather; and one brother, James T. Mitchell.
