Jane Mucci

Jane Ellen Mucci, 95, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her home with her daughters by her side.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 9:00am until 10:00am at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, at 10:30am at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.

Jane was born December 13, 1929, in Ottawa, IL, to Walter and Emma (Poutre) Rossiter. She married Eugene Mucci on October 15, 1949 at St. Columba Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2005.

Jane worked for Illinois Bell as a phone operator until she stayed home to raise her children. She enjoyed baking, especially her desserts and Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, playing word games and sodoku, and putting puzzles together. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Alter and Rosary Society and the Naplate Fire Belles.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Joe) Murry and Julie (Marty) Wheatland; her daughter in laws, Patti Mucci and Vicki Mucci; her grandchildren, Matthew (Marinda) Mucci, Patrick (Charlotte) Murry, Lauren (Eli) Vincent, Daniel (Rachel) Mucci, and Casey (Christina) Wheatland; her great grandchildren, Preston and Everett Vincent, Madeline and Emma Murry, and John Martin Wheatland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Emma; her spouse of 56 years, Eugene; her sons, Dave and Don Mucci; and her siblings, Robert Rossiter, Harold Rossiter, Walter Rossiter Jr., Donald Rossiter, Evelyn Orsini, Alyce Erickson, Kathleen Bumgarner, and a brother in infancy.

Memorial contributions in Jane's honor may be directed to St. Brigid Parish or the Naplate Fire Department.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Jane's caregivers, Kayla, Sue, Nikki and Susie, for the excellent care shown to her over the years.
