James Wawerski

James Wawerski, 86, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday November 1, 2022 at his home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Jim was born June 1, 1936 in Ottawa, to Stanley and Nina (Carrier) Wawerski. He married Della Vicich on November 24, 1953 in Ottawa.  Jim and Della spent 67 wonderful years together until her death on September 9, 2021.

Jim retired from the maintenance department at US Silica. He was an avid hunter, especially when it came to duck hunting.  Jim was one of the founders and president of the Singing Arrow Archery Club and truly enjoyed game and competition archery. Jim also enjoyed trap shooting, fishing and snowmobiling.  He was a member of the Sandwich Gas Engine Club, as well as the owner and operator of Jim's Radiator Service in Ottawa for well over 60 years.

Jim is survived by four sons, James, Marvin, George, and Richard (Christina) Wawerski; a daughter, Peg (Tom) Schommer; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a grandson, Richard.
