James L. Steele, 86, of Seneca, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at his home. Funeral Service for Jim will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca with Pastor Phil Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca with Military Services. Jim was born June 6, 1927 in Bruno, Minnesota to James and Louise (Brandt) Steele. He married Marie Irene "Rene" Griffin December 24, 1949. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for Federal Paper as a working foreman. He was a member of VFW in Morris and John Martin Steele Post 6049. He is survived by his loving wife, Rene; two sons, James T. (Gail) Steele of Marseilles and Randy J. Steele of Seneca; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Shane (Molly), Robert (Morgan), Andrea, Nathan, Megan, and Shannon Steele, and Donica Sokolinski; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Steele. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Fritz and Charles Steele; and two sisters, Mary Ann Malinowski and Lorraine Hurd. Pallbearers will be Shane, Nathan, Robert, Brian, and Bill Steele and Trevor Sokolinski. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Fisher, Randy Timmons, and Rick Steele.
