James "Tommie" Phipps

James Thomas Phipps, 87, of Westmont, IL (formerly of Westchester, IL) passed away in the early morning of January 24, 2016.

James, lovingly known to his family and friends as Tommie, was born in Fancy Farm, Kentucky on June 29, 1928 to John Walter and Anne Beulah Phipps. He married Julia Mae Hollenbeck on May 7, 1949.

James worked at the Conrad Hilton Hotel on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for 44 years, retiring as the Banquet Manager.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Julia, his sisters Mary Elsie Nagel, SR Lucille Phipps and Georgia Uyder, his brother-in-law Robert Hollenbeck of Seneca and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jay.
