James Nagle

January 24, 1926 — December 3, 2014

James Vincent "Mule" Nagle, 88, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi with Rev. Agustin Kassa officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with his arrangements. James Vincent was born January 24, 1926, in Ottawa, Illinois, to the late Richard J. and Mary (Sheehan) Nagle. He married Norma Estelle Milbauer on August 28, 1954 at St. Patrick's Church in Dwight. A U.S. Navy Veteran, he served in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford in 1988 after 39 years of service. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW and served as a Trustee for the Ottawa Township for many years. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Mossey, Ottawa; two daughters, Sheila Diaz, Ottawa and Patty (Eric) Nelson, Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Courtney Diaz, St. Petersburg Fl., Briana (Ryan) Collins, Wildwood, MO, Aubree (Matthew) Bennett, Marseilles, Danielle (Chris) Nelson, Lindenhurst, Brodie (Alecia) Harvey, Elliott, Claire Diaz, Ottawa, Cassidy Nelson, Mansfield; and four great-grandchildren, Keira and Kaylee Nelson, Haidyn Collins, and Brayden Harvey. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; four brothers, Thomas, Jeremiah, Joseph, and Robert Nagle; three sisters, Catherine "Doll" Dekreon, Sister Elizabeth Ann Nagle, R.S.M., and Patsy Lou Nagle; sister-in-law, Eileen Nagle; and son-in-law, Joseph I. Diaz. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Church or to the family.
