James "Jim" Lyon

James (Jim) Earl Lyon, 80, of Tonica passed away July 7, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 12:00pm noon at St. Columba Cemetery with Rev. Duane Kauffman officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow.

Jim was born January 15, 1942, in Traverse City, Michigan to Murl and Gladys (MacDougall) Lyon. He married Cecelia Bayer on January 18, 1964 at the Justice of the Peace. He served in The US Army October 1960 - February 1970 and retired from AT&T after 30 years of service.  He loved wood working and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.

He is survived by his three sons, James (Linda) of Ottawa, Jason (De Anna) of LaSalle, and John (Kara) of St. Charles; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Carpenter, Delayne Lyon, Christopher (Lindsay) Lyon, Justin (Abbie) Lyon, Jared Lyon, Aaliyah Lyon, Caleb Sanchez and Logan Lyon; eight great-grandchildren, Brayden, Keiana, Elyannah, Noralee, Payton, Ryleigh, Makenna and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister, Murla Lyon; and great grand-daughter, Ellah Therese Lyon.
