James Jansen

James Jansen, 90, of Ottawa passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30, prior to services, at the Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Jim was born February 10, 1931, in Ottawa to George and Marie (Friet) Jansen. He married Patricia Magoonaugh on May 29, 1954 at St. Francis of Assisi Church; they were married for 41 years before her passing on January 19, 1996.

Jim was a proud member of the United States Marines, serving from 1951-1953. He worked at LOF for 37 years before retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, Jim enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the Number One Fan at all of his grandchildren's sporting events and a constant source of support for each of them. In his later years, he loved visiting the Hi-Way and spending time on his front porch with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and St. Francis of Assisi Church.

He is survived by his son, Jack (Gayle) Jansen; two daughters, Joan (Chris) Halm and Jane (Gary) Neurohr; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Jansen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat; his son, Jimmy; one sister, Lucille; and one brother, Don.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Halm, Jordan Jansen, Steve Martin, Bob Thrush, Matt Murry, Joe Magoonaugh, and James Magoonaugh.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
