James Bongartz

James Andrew Bongartz, 83, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, at Pinnacle Peak Assisted Living Home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Funeral Service for James will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. James was born December 1, 1929, in Streator, Illinois, to James and Doris (Kivk) Bongartz. He married Barbara Duffy on July 21, 1951, in LaSalle, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2010. He was a Physicians Assistant in the US Navy Hospital Corp. from 1948 to 1952. James retired from L.O.F. Glass Company. He was a member of St. Columba Church. He is survived by two sons, Bill (Karen) of Freeport, IL and Michael (Paula) of Maple Grove, IL; four grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Eric, and Kellen Bongartz; and two great grandchildren, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; one brother, Robert; and one grandson.
