James Grant Barton, 67, of Marseilles passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Pleasant View.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with his cremation rites.
James was born January 25, 1950 in Williamson, West Virginia to Edward and Nancy (Easley) Barton. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he received his bachelors degree in math and applied computer statistics. He married Mary Beth Lynott on August 31, 1980 in Starved Rock State Park. He retired from LOF after 30 years of service as a supervisor. After his retirement he continued to work for LOF as a consultant. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and weaving. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth; four siblings, Keith (Grady) Ferry of Spring, TX; Susy Rybicki of Belleville, IL; and George (Diane) Barton and Tom Barton, both of Sherman, TX; his paternal aunts and uncles, June (the late Jim) Trinnaman of Carlisle, PA; James (Judy) Barton of Cincinnati, OH; Jay (Mary) Barton of Lynchburg, VA; and Jery (Elaine) Barton of Holland, OH; his maternal aunts, Isabel (Dick) Northcut of Brentwood, TN; and Peggy (Phil) Masenheimer of Spokane, WA; his brothers-in-law Terry (Dee), Tom (Pegge), and Mike Lynott; his sister-in-Law Patti (Berne) Ernat; and his two furry friends, Pogo and Jet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Dr. Kenneth J. Rybicki; and many loving cats.
Memorials may be directed to Natural Resources Defense Council, World Wildlife Fund, Humane Society, and No Kill Shelters all over the world.
