Irene Vercimak

Irene C. Vercimak, 96, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at her daughter's home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Patrick's Church with Father Jules Adator officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2:45. She will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. Irene was born December 29, 1917 in Streator, Illinois to Peter and Mary (Zec) Durdan. She married Michael L. Vercimak on January 18, 1944 at St. Stephen's Church in Streator. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She loved gardening, canning, playing bingo, and euchre. She is survived by her children, Michael P. (Penny) Vercimak, Mary Ann Dorsett, Joseph E. (Barb) Vercimak, and Diane ( Steve) Carr; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy (Kersten) Wheeler, Megan (Jayme) Novotney, Michael D. Vercimak, Luke (Allison) Vercimak, Jake Vercimak, Sam Vercimak, Becky Robertson, Ashley (Jake) Lemmer, Joe (Harmony)Vercimak, Adam Vercimak, Zachary Vercimak; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Vercimak; one daughter, Jean Sulek; one granddaughter, Laura Vercimak; eight brothers, Andrew Durdan, Peter Durdan, John Durdan, Thomas Durdan, George Durdan, Albert Durdan, Edward Durdan, Stephen Durdan; and four sisters, Mary Inks, Anna Budach, Clara Kehoe, and Margaret Graham. Pallbearers will be Michael D. Vercimak, Luke Vercimak, Jake Vercimak, Sam Vercimak, Jake Lemmer, Adam Vercimak, Zachary Vercimak, Joe Vercimak. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church.
