Hugh "Alex" Hicks

Hugh "Alex" Alexander Hicks, 72, of Morris, IL, passed away at his home in Morris on August 6th, 2023.

A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Hugh was born May 25, 1951, in Ottawa IL, to Clement and Helen (Alexander) Hicks.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Hugh was a hard worker his entire life. He worked at Caterpillar for 30 years and IDOT in Morris for 6 years, and was also self employed at Hicks Excavating. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, gambling on the riverboat, going to Jerry's Barber Shop on Thursdays, and spending time with his grandson Gabe, whom he loved dearly. He was known for his sense of humor and his strong work ethic. He is survived by his children, David (Courtney) Hicks, Ian Hicks, and Mary (David) Young; his grandson, Gabe Hicks; and his siblings, Carla Shaver and Alan Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his loving girlfriend Sharon Dibble; his ex wife Karen Hicks, and his sister, Carol Miller.
