Hubert Allen "Hubie" Scherer, 87, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Arcadia Care of Morris.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 16 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday, February 15 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus Honors. Burial be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date with Military Honors.
Hubert was born May 16, 1934, in Ottawa, to Hubert and Alice (Allen) Scherer. He married Pearl Brownfield on October 27, 1956.
Hubie graduated from Marquette High School and served in the United States Army at Fort Stewart, GA. He won the Key Man Award and was the president and U.S. Senator of the Jaycees. He was a member of the Nights of Columbus and was an avid Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pearl; his five children, Stephen Scherer of Ottawa, David Scherer of Champaign, twins Cora Scherer of Lisle and Karen (Daniel) Turner of Austin, TX, and Victoria Napier of Mark, IL; nine grandchildren, Jonathan (Shannon) Scherer, James Scherer, Kristopher Turner, Bridget Napier, Danielle Turner, Joseph Scherer, Katie Turner, Julie Scherer, and Darryl Turner; three great grandsons, Michael, Maddux and Myles Scherer; one great granddaughter, Makayla Wiley; one sister, Mary Anne Scherer and three brothers, Don, Allen (Jeanie) and Chuck (Cathy) Scherer.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia (Terry) Green and Barbara (Joe) Wheatland.
