Helen Tress

Helen E. Tress, 82, of Ottawa passed away July 18, 2012 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Funeral service for Helen will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, July 20, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be entombed at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Helen was born August 24, 1929 in Ottawa, Illinois to Harold and Bertha (Heiman) Hartshorn. She married Fred Tress March 15, 1952 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. He passed away December 21, 2009. Helen and her husband Fred owned Tress Jewelry Store in Ottawa. She loved working with her flowers, playing Bridge with her friends, sewing, cross stitching, and doing cross word puzzle books. She was a member of First Congregational Church and the Ladies Bridge Club. She is survived by her two daughters, Gail Hayward (Duane) Kapp of Grand Ridge and Karen (Dick) Terry of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Terry of San Francisco, CA., Cheryl (Paul) Mathews of Grand Ridge, and Laura (Craig) Wieczorkiewicz of Grand Ridge; two great-grandchildren, Rhys and Declan Terry both of San Francisco, CA.; one brother, Donald (Dee) Hartshorn of Leland; and one sister, Judie (Dale) McConville of Ottawa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Fred; two sisters, Mary Barnett and Dorothy Polancic; two brothers, Dale and George Hartshorn; one grandson, Aaron Terry; and her son-in-law D. Charles Hayward. Pallbearers will be Paul Mathews, Craig Wieczorkiewicz, Ryan Terry, Don Hartshorn, Marc Tabor, and Keith Bretag. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pleasant View.
