Helen Mcdermott

Helen A. McDermott, 86, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Patrick's Church with Father Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Helen was born June 19, 1930 in Ottawa, Illinois to Emil and Hellen (Scullins) Roth. She married Hubert McDermott April 4, 1952 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa; he passed away April 20, 2000. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, playing on the computer, as well as cooking and baking. Helen was amazing with numbers and always wanted to be an accountant. She is survived by her children, Stephen (Kelly) McDermott, Michael (Tabrina) McDermott, Sandra Batistini, Thomas (Gail) McDermott, Karen McDermott, eight grandchildren, and sixteen grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Paul McDermott; one grandson, Stephen KellyMcDermott; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Farro. Pallbearers will be her family.
