Helen Despina Gianoulakis, 89, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday June 10, 2008 at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa. Funeral Mass will be at 11 A.M. Friday June 13, 2008 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 601 S. Central Ave. Chicago, IL with Father Timothy Bakakos and Father Stephanos Bithos officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL. Visitation will be a half hour before services at the church. She was born on March 17, 1919 at St. Louis, MO. to Gregory and Stella (Papageorge) Gianoulakis. She worked in accounting in the garment industry. She was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and the Daughters of Penelope. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Anna Marie Gianoulakis; nieces, Debra Gianoulakis Pena, Stella Gianoulakis Fulgaro and Luella and Dianna Fulgaro; nephews, Steven Gianoulakis and John and Myles Fulgaro; great nephews, Zachary and Jeremy Pena and Sean Kase; Godson, Alexander Konetzki; lifelong friends, Poppy and Daphne Mitchell, John Cunningham, Constance Stathakis, Tina Zamboulis and Susan Kyriazopoulos. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nicholas Gianoulakis and lifelong friends Xenophon Mitchell and Victoria Katsis. Pallbearers will be John Cunningham and Alexander Konetzki.
