Hazel E. Wells, 96, of Seneca, IL., passed away, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Seneca, IL, with Rev. Tom Bourke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca, IL. Hazel was born October 30, 1913, in Chatsworth, IL to George and Verna (DeMarcus) Turner. She married Kenneth Wells August 7, 1933 in Pontiac, IL. He died January of 1963. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Seneca. Hazel moved to Seneca in 1943. She left there in 1964 to the Chicago Suburbs where she worked for eleven years. She returned to Seneca in 1975 and where she became very active in the First United Methodist Church and also Ruth's Circle. In 2003, Hazel moved to Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL to be closer to her daughter. Hazel enjoyed cooking, reading, craft work, and quilting, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Merle) Long of Savanna, IL; three sons, Jerald of Chicago, IL, Donald (Joyce) of Madison, IN, and Ronald of Seneca, IL; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Seneca or FHN Hospice, 773 W. Lincoln BLVD., Suite 403, Freeport, IL 61032.
