Harvey Holcomb

Harvey E. Holcomb, 88, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, August 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Bladen officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, August 27 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley with military honors.

Harvey was born October 16, 1929 in Walsh, Illinois to Francis Ruel and Mary Jane (Klee) Holcomb. He married Josephine Rudolph July 29, 1967 in Joliet.

Harvey was a proud member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar after 32 years and then worked at Eagle's Grocery for 8 years. He loved fishing in Chetek, WI with his wife, and gardening. Harvey was a member of the VFW in Chester, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Josephine; two children, Michael Holcomb of Coal City and Laura Holcomb of Ransom; four grandchildren, Sabrina (Eric), David (Jenny), Jonathan, and Joseph; two great-grandchildren, Eva and Lance; and one sister, Loretta Whitt of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Matthew; and four siblings, Marshall, Clarence, and Ralph Holcomb, and Vada Belton.
