Harry W. "Beans" Lyman, 85, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the LaSalle Veterans Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am, Friday, July 21 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 am, prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, with American Legion Veterans Group Honor Guard in attendance. Harry was born March 6, 1932 in Streator to Harry Walters and Louise (Lyman) Walters. He married Eleanor J. Simcich on March 17, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate; she passed away January 7, 2010. Harry retired from Libby Owens Ford in 1988. He was a combat Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Harry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the LaSalle County Cruisers; where he enjoyed showing his 1956 Crown Victoria. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, lucky to see them win the World Series. Harry especially loved attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Mike) Erwin of Earlville, and Lori (Joe) Brandinger of Grove City, OH; 4 grandchildren, Traci (Brian) Roe, Jeff (Tina) Oelschlager, Adrienne Erwin, and Ben (Sarah) Erwin; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellie; his grandparents who helped raise him, William John and Margaret (Lyman) Sr.; and one brother, Terry Lyman. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed to local charities.
