Harry Lee Jennings

Harry Lee Jennings, 89, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Ottawa Pavilion. A visitation to celebrate his life will be from 10-12:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Harry was born August 20, 1921, in Belleview, IL to Harry and LauraLee (McIntire) Jennings. He married Guiliana Magyar February 7, 1970 in Geneva, IL. Harry made his living as a chemist at Culligan Water Systems and later at Becker Industries, until his retirement, but travel was his passion. He took 33 trips in 45 years, visiting 12 countries, including Asia, Europe, Tahiti, Central America and six islands in the Caribbean. He loved archeology and participated in six expeditions, including Chichen Itza, Palau and twice at Tenothucan. Harry loved science, short wave radio, photography, and was a long time member of the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild. Harry is survived by two step-children, Greta (Keith) McConnaughhay and Kirk (Lucrecia Mena) Heinisch; seven grandchildren, Brook (Andrew) Radford, Margaret (Robert) St. Leger, Jamie (Mindy), Charles (Caitlin), and Erin McConnaughhay, Austin (Amanda) Heinisch and Traci (Juan Leuvano) Heinisch; nine great grandchildren, Makena and Addison McConnaughhay, A. Hudson Radford III, Zachary, Kaitlin, Shelby and Joslin Heinisch, Juan and Hope Leuvanno; and two nieces, Geraldine Freeman and Harriet Boothe, and their families of Pleasant Hill, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Guiliana, his parents, and a sister, Irma Freman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the USO or the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild.
