Harold "Dutch" Schaibley, 82, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Mike Adrie officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00. He will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery with military honors. Dutch was born July 1, 1931 in Ottawa, Illinois to Fred and Lulu (Howe) Schaibley. He proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He married Mary Donahue September 20, 1952 at St. Columba Church. He worked in maintenance at Libby Owens Ford. He was a member of St. Francis Church, Knights of Columbus, and The Moose. Dutch volunteered at Ottawa Hospital and set up bingo at the K of C. He loved to fish and travel with his wife. He was a lifelong Cubs fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary; four children, Stephen (Lisa) of Blackstone, Susan (Michael) Barbaglia of Springfield, MO., Paul (Rosie) of Ottawa, and Edward (Teresa) of Marseilles; nineteen grandchildren, Stephannie and Anton Schaibley, Jacob and Laura Navarro, Sarah Nanouski, Michele Hudkins, Elizabeth Johnson, Melissa Wright, Claire, Evan, and Emily Schaibley, Gabe, Mark, and Elizabeth Barbaglia, Kate Booth, Erin Walker, Jessica Rodriguez, Hannah Oldman, and Dusty Torres; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be Stephen, Paul, Edward, Anton, and Evan Schaibley, and Jacob Navarro. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Masses.
