Harold Hicks

Harold O. Hicks Sr., 71, of Conover, NC, passed away at his home, peacefully with his family at his side. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday December 20, 2008, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Harold was born on July 30, 1937 in Mount Vernon, IL. to Eugene and Bernice (Hall) Hicks. He married Arlene Farris on February 26, 1955 in Mississippi. He retired from P.M.I. in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; three daughters, Debbie (Efren) Vallejo of Lockport, IL, Sharon (Chad) Hicks of Phoenix, AZ, and Theresa (Moe) Smith of Mount Vernon, IN.; ; one son, Harold "Butch" (Ann) Hicks of Ottawa, his mother-in-law: Mary Farris of North Carolina, one son-in-law: Mike Hudson of Dyer,IN,; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Bernice (Hall) Hicks; two daughters, Barbara Gail Hicks and Marcia Kay Hudson; a grandson, Chad Wicks Jr.; a granddaughter, Jessica Rose Wicks; a sister, Cindy Carter; two brothers, Alvin and Dwan Hicks, and his father-in-law Walter Farris. Pallbearers will be Sharon and Butch Hicks, Moe Smith, Mike Hudson, Efren Vallejo, and Phil Thomas. Memorials may be directed to the family.
