Gwendolyn Mae Zimmerman

Gwendolyn Mae Zimmerman, 88, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Ottawa Pavilion.

Memorial visitation will be Sunday, January 31 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory. She will be buried in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Gwen was born November 24, 1927 in Utica, Illinois to George and Amy (Jones) Stuart. She married Charles Zimmerman June 4, 1970 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa.

She worked at St. Joseph’s Health Resort and Westclox, and was a secretary/receptionist for Zimmerman Home Improvement, which she owned with her husband. She was a life-long golfer and a member of Prairie Lakes Golf Club. She won twenty-five trophies playing golf. She also loved to paint with acrylic paints.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; her sister, Daphyne Holdcraft; her brother, George W Stuart; her brother-in-law, Ron Mattingly; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elaine Mattingly; and her brother-in-law, Stacy Holdcraft.
