Gregory D. Thorson, 69, of Seneca, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Streator Heritage Health.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, December 6 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Monday, December 5 at the church. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Greg was born June 12, 1947, in Ottawa to Sidney and Mary (Wheeler) Thorson. He married Linda Hallett May 25, 1968 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca.

Greg was a member of the United States Army from August 15, 1966 to August 14, 1968; and during this time, he served in Vietnam. For over 30 years, Greg worked at Caterpillar, Inc. He was a former Seneca High School board member and high school basketball referee for many years. He enjoyed traveling on his Harley Davidson with his wife, Linda, golfing, and watching the Cubs and Morris Redskins football games.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Scott (Amy) Thorson and Alan (Chandra) Thorson, both of Morris; four grandchildren, Alexa, Paige, Brooke, and Brynne Thorson; one brother, Robert (Maria) Thorson; and his mother-in-law, Margery Hallett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Alayna Thorson; one brother, Larry Thorson; one sister, Karen Burris; his father-in-law, Benoit Hallett; and brothers-in-law, Gary and Jeff Hallett.

Pallbearers will be Clint Peterson, Matt Andreatta, Jason Mann, Darrin Tomano, John Bunn, and Rick Bunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis Kasten, Ron Ott, Winston O'Brien, Donnie Boren, David Blome, and Bill Chapman.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church in Seneca.
