Gerald J. Baker, Sr.

Gerald J. Baker, Sr., 87, of Seneca, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Morris Hospital. A Funeral Service for Gerald will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the Church. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Gerald was born May 4, 1924 in Kinsman, Illinois to Jesse George and Mary (Rosendahl) Baker. He married Margaret Hanson on August 18, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kewanee. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was a farmer and also owned and operated a construction business. He was very active in service to the Lord. Also, in 1951, he was the recipient of the Boy Scouts of America's Presidents' Award. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Jane Baker of Oak Park, Carol Baker of Antioch, and Paula Larsen of Seneca; one son, Gerald J. (Kathy) Baker Jr. of Seneca; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Andrea) Halterman, Ryan Halterman, Brian (Sarah) Borchelt, Scott and Andrew Larsen, Anna, Sean, and Molly Baker; and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Amelia Halterman. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Baker. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Memorials may be directed Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch - Girlstown U.S.A. & Family Resource Centers.
