Georgia L. Welsh, 80, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with the Rev. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation one hour before services at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery next to her husband, George. Georgia was born May 22, 1935 in Ottawa, Illinois to Elmer and Susan (Gaines) Hamilton. She was a 1953 graduate of Marquette High School. She married George J. Welsh June 4, 1955 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. She was employed 29 years in the Business Office at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. She was a volunteer at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, a member of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Altar and Rosary Society. Georgia was the most unselfish person someone could know; she was always thinking of other people and her boys. She was an amazing cook and will always be famous for her vegetable soup and potato salad. She was especially proud of her grandson Mitchell when he was in the Marines and went to Iraq. She is survived by two sons, Timothy Welsh of Princeton and Mark Welsh of Palatine; one grandchild, Mitchell Welsh; and one sister, Colleen (Andrew) Ftacek from Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 2001 and her parents. Pallbearers will be Andrew Ftacek Jr., Michael Ftacek, Tom Welsh, Mitchell Welsh, Andy Welsh, and Pete Welsh.
