George Ferguson

George J. Ferguson Jr., 81, of Ottawa, IL passed away Wednesday, January 22,2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Military services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, January 28, at the graveside at Oakwood Memorial Park. Cremation rights have been accorded to the Ottawa Funeral Home.

George was born June 14,1938, in Ottawa, IL, to the late George J Sr and Dorothy (Maltas) Ferguson. He married Roberta Snider-Clearwater on December 23, 1961 at The Tonica Methodist Church in Tonica, IL.

George served with the United States Air Force as a military police officer and served in Japan from 1955-1959.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years; his daughter, Donna Reynolds; his son, Mark (Chris) Ferguson; his pride and joy were his 3 grandsons, Joshua Lee, Adam Michael (Andrea Sullivan) Reynolds of Sheridan, and Nathan Jerome (Brandy) Reynolds of Serena; his siblings, Clarence (Gloria) Ferguson, Mary Morton of LaSalle, Dorothy Hanson of Morris, Marlene Lampson, Juanita Aldrich, Nancy Leech, Karen Ferguson of Ottawa; Tommy of Streator, Richard, Kenneth of Ottawa, Carl of Wichita, KS, and Irene Worthington of Wood River, IL.

He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, James E. Ferguson of Pueblo, Co and Jack W. Ferguson of Ottawa; Sister-in-law, Mary Hickey Ferguson of Ottawa; his nephew, Joseph A. Scanavino of Morris; his in-laws, Robert and Frances Snider of Colorado Springs, CO, and Oliver and Phyllis Clearwater of Ottawa.
