Geno J. Fiorini

Geno J. Fiorini, 82, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 5, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Jules Adator officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with prayers at 4:00 p.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park, with Military Services. Geno was born January 5, 1931. in Ottawa to Louis and Matilda (Dettore) Fiorini. He married Bernardine Eichelkraut on February 13, 1954, at St. Columba Church. Geno served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from LOF after 25 years. He was also a founding member of the Ottawa River Rescue Squad. Geno was a member of St. Francis Church. He is survived by his wife, Bernie, of 59 years; one son, Richard of Ottawa; two daughters, Julie of Ottawa and Gina (Bill) Hogan of Ottawa; a family friend, Kevin Berry; three grandchildren, Cody and Mike Hogan of Ottawa and Amy (Kelly) Putnam of Oklahoma; a sister, Elvera Disier; and a niece, Sue (John) Grieves of Ottawa. He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Don Disier. Pallbearers will be Cody Hogan, Mike Hogan, Dale Madden, Dave Larson, Dr. Don Dettore, and Tom Ciszewski. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Dettore, Gus Gustafsen, John Grieves, and Gerry Hunter. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Church or to the family.
