Genevieve Chaney

Genevieve "Pudge" (Welsh) Chaney, 88, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Manor Court in Peru, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa, with the Rev. Lourduraj Ignatius officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday November 20, 2009 at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rosary at 4:00 and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in attendance. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Genevieve was born October 9, 1921 in Ottawa, IL, to Frank and Irene (Casey) Welsh. She married Charles Chaney in July 1946 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He died June 6, 1981. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Elks Club. Genevieve is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Charlie) Speno of Duango, CO, Catherine (James) Slechta and Rosemary (Paul) Schaibley both of Ottawa; two sons, Timothy (Sharon) of Dayton, IL and Charles of Chicago; ten grandchildren; and one great grandson. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son, Stephen Chaney, and two sisters, Claire Brown and Dorothy Parrish. Pallbearers will be Paul Schaibley, Jim Slechta, Charlie Speno, Brian Walker, and Michael and Charlie Chaney. Memorials may be directed to the family.
