Gary English

Gary English, 66, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 5 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home.

Gary was born October 1, 1957, in Ottawa, IL, to Bernard and Betty (Hoffman) English. He married Christine Carretto in 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gary worked as an electrician for over 40 years at Libby Owens. He was a hard worker and loved his job. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed traveling to Florida to see his dad. He also enjoyed working in the yard and tending to his garden. He was very handy, and always enjoyed tinkering on different projects. He was extremely social and was always BS'ing with his friends. He was extremely devoted to his daughter. He was always cheering her on and making sure she was the best at anything she put her mind to. He was always extremely devoted to Jesus Christ. He was always willing to speak about the word of Christ.

Gary had a dream not long ago and wanted to tell everyone: "To all that I love, thank you. You have all been an integral part of my family."

He is survived by his wife, Christine English; his daughter, Mikaela (Randall Collins) English; his siblings, David, Cathy, and Jami English; and his favorite pups, Lucy and Sammie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis English.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed to causes that were important to Gary.
