Garney Rice

Garney Rice, 51, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Memorial Service for Garney will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home with Deacon Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Garney was born August 22, 1961, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Dewayne and Beverly (Stevens) Rice. He was an Operating Engineer for Local 150 and he owned and operated the Chicken Coop. He is survived by his son, Garney (Kristi Adams) Rice of Sheridan; one daughter, Spring Rice of Pontiac; three grandchildren, Arianna Rice, Brooklyn Rice, and McKinley Morgan; five brothers, Dallas (Jamie) of Ottawa, Jack of Iowa, Dewey of Streator, Danny of Streator, Joe of China; one sister, Kathy (Dennis) Duffy of Ottawa; and Jim and Arlie Rice of Ottawa that were raised like brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gayla Rice and Debbie Rice. Memorials may be directed to the family.
