Frank Geiger

Frank A. (Beau) Geiger, 71, of Grand Ridge, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 6 surrounded by his family at his home after a courageous battle. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa with Fr. Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, October 9, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:45. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Ottawa. Pallbearers will be nephews Tim and Jude Geiger, Tom, James, and Joey McClure and godson Daniel Lukach. He was born January 10, 1944 in Streator to Lester and Elsie (Hettel) Geiger. Born and raised in the Grand Ridge area he attended Marquette Academy in Ottawa graduating in 1962. He was in the Army Reserves. He married Kathleen 'Kathy' (Hanna) Geiger on November 17, 1979 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alexis, Illinois; she survives. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Ottawa and the Streator Knights of Columbus. He was self-employed as a farmer all of his life. He loved working in his yard creating an array of flower gardens and enjoying nature. His grandchildren brought him much joy and he truly lit up when they entered the room. He was always ready for a round of cards. He is survived by his sons Jason (Evy) Geiger of Plainfield and Ryan (Gloria) Geiger of Island Lake. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kailey and Mia Geiger of Plainfield and Jonathan and Malissa Lopez and Samantha Velezquez of Island Lake, his sister Shirley Geiger, Utica, niece Jamie Hill of Grand Ridge nephews Tim Geiger, Ottawa, Jude Geiger Chicago, great-nephews Chase and Wyatt Hill of Grand Ridge and Garett Geiger of Ottawa, and his in laws Edward (Nancy) Hanna Raleigh, NC, Jack Hanna, Falls Church, Va, Pat (Ray) Rosenbalm, Geneso and Joan (Randy)McClure of Dunlap. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother James (Goose) Geiger; and sister-in-law Dorothy Geiger. Memorial may be made to the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
