Francis "Tom" Raibley

Francis "Tom" Raibley, 91, of Seneca, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 24, from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Tom was born July 22, 1933, in Ottawa, IL, to Frank and Kitty Raibley. Tom attended Seneca schools and graduated from Drake University after serving the United States Army during the Korean War. Tom was employed by Ford Motor Company in Oak Park for several years. He then returned to Seneca to assist his father in running Raibley's Grocery and Meats Store until its closure in 1976. Tom was then employed by E.I. DuPont until his retirement.

Tom was a member of the American Legion Kasal Post 457, Knights of Columbus, Seneca Port Authority, and a long time usher at St. Patrick's Church.

Tom and Madeline Lynes of Morris were married on March 12, 1976. Madeline proceeded Tom in death as well as Tom's parent's, Frank and Kitty.

Tom is survived by his brother, John "Pat" Raibley; his sister, Joan Scanlon; his nieces, Kay Williams and Ann Smith both of Washington State; his nephews, Mike and Bob Scanlon both of Alaska; his step daughter, Terry Knapp; his step sons, Bob Lynes and Dick Lynes; and many grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Barla, Tim Foster, Matt Sticha, John Lamb, Denny Knapp, and Jason Knapp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Wood, Tom Justice Sr., Scott Nortin, and Joe Johnson.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choosing.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tom's dear friends, Jerry Barla and Tim Foster, for all their assistance over the years.
