Fran Ritchie

Frances Willene McCombs Ritchie, 74, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Frances was born December 26, 1937 in Sterling, Illinois to Mary E. Covell and the late Clair Covell. She was later adopted by Mary's 2nd husband, David L. McCombs. She graduated from Rock Falls Township High School in 1955. She married Frank A. Ritchie at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Rock Falls on February 14, 1956. Frances worked as a manager at Burger King. She and her husband owned and operated the Silver Frost for many years. She was a Cub Scout leader for 17 years and was a member of the PTA. Frances is survived by her husband, Frank; three sons, Gregg (Lisa) Ritchie of Ottawa, Gary (Kathy) Ritchie of Roanoke, and Scott Ritchie of Seneca; four daughters, Teresa Grieves of Ottawa, Corinna Ritchie of Ottawa, Nicole Ritchie of Ottawa, and Denise (David) Hillyer of Streator; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Don) Stranberg and Merrilee (Bob) McCue, both of Sterling; and one brother, John (Linda) McCombs of Pelham, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeff; one sister, Sandra Druien; and a nephew, Michael Druien. Pallbearers will be Jason Grieves, Patrick Grieves, David Ritchie, Andrew Ritchie, Nicholas Ritchie, and Ryan Williams. Memorials may be directed to the family.
