Faith A. Herrera, 82, of Ottawa passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Thursday, September 7 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm, Wednesday, September 6 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Faith was born November 10, 1934 in Marseilles to Mr. and Mrs. Lightner. She married Joseph Herrera on December 13, 1958 in Ottawa. Faith was a nurse for many years. She worked in the cradle in the Chicagoland area, finishing her career at Ryburn King Hospital. Faith loved cooking tortillas, and she always had enough for everyone. She loved telling stories about her past, and she never forgot a detail about a date, birthday, or occasion. Faith was very dedicated to her family; she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Joseph, of 58 years; five children, Beth Harris, Louise (John Lyons) Streicher, Anna Tunget, Joseph Herrera, and Jason Herrera, all of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, Brandy, Michael, Dalton, Cheyenne, Brooke, Alicia, Amber, Amanda, Jimmy, Addison, and Nathan; 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and her favorite pets, Tipper and Sheba. She was preceded in death by her parents and one child in infancy. Pallbearers will be Michael Miller, Dalton Harris, Nathan Herrera, Jim Rygh, Preston Walter, and Leo Martinez. Memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed to local charities.
