Evelyn Armstrong

Evelyn Armstrong, 97, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 - 12:30 pm prior to services Saturday at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date. Evelyn was born August 30, 1916, in Wedron, Illinois to Albert and Lora (Buck) Wilkinson. She married Paul Stewart Armstrong on December 10, 1938 at St. Patrick's Church; he preceded her in death June 9, 1997. She graduated from Saint Xaiver Academy in Ottawa, IL. She worked at S & H Green Stamp Store, Emerick and Mason, and Illinois Bell as a telephone operator. She was a member of St. Columba Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters of Americas. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay (Jack) Teausant of Ottawa; four sons, James (Sue) of Hasting, NE, Dennis (Carolyn) of Los Altos, CA, Richard (Donna), and David both of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Karla) Armstrong, Michelle (Tom) Musgrave of Hastings, NE, Nicole (Greg) Merrick of Campbell, CA, Nate (Dyan) Armstrong of San Jose, CA, Luke (Hillary) Armstrong of Dayton, TX, Travis (Christie) Teausant of Normal, IL, Danielle (Morgan) McCarthy of Hoffman Estates, IL, Greg (Becca) Armstrong, and Jeff Armstrong of Davenport, IA; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; one sister, Eileen Bradach; and one son, Gerald Armstrong. Pallbearers will be Travis Teausant, Morgan McCarthy, Jeff Armstrong, Greg Armstrong, Jeffrey Armstrong, and Robert Gaughan. Memorials may be directed to Friendship House or Marquette Academy.
