Eugene M. Timmons, 82, of Seneca, Illinois passed away peacefully January 29, 2016 at his home with family by his side, after a very lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, February 1, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. His visitation will be 3:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, January 31, 2016. He will be buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Eugene was born on July 12, 1933 in Seneca to Melvin and Mary (Hochstetler) Timmons, one of eight children. He married Sandra Swanson on December 26, 1955 at the Seneca Lutheran Church. Together, they built a home and were blessed with two children. Gene graduated from Cole/Farley Country School and attended Seneca High School. He first worked at the Seneca Cheese Factory. He was then employed on maintenance for Continental Grain Company's seven elevators in the area, retiring in 2000. Through the years, Gene was an all-around handy man, willing to help any who needed assistance in fixing something. He loved his family, his home and yard, and his maintenance work. Gene loved his cat, Skinny, and had a tender heart for all wild and injured critters. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, his son, Randy (Rhonda); his daughter, Robin (boyfriend Al); five grandchildren, Amber and Aaron Viland, Austin (Sarah Lynn) Timmons, Travis (Elisabeth) Timmons, and Sarah Jo (David) Farnsworth; five great-grandchildren, Trevin, Ella Lynn, and Eugene Timmons, and Sullivan and Walker Timmons; one brother, Ronald; two sisters, Diana (Dick) Partridge, and Barbara (Merlyn) Higgins; one sister-in-law, Marsha Ann Timmons; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alvin Cross and his wife Eleanor, and Raymond "Buzz"; two sisters, Edith Cade and her husband Wayne, and Mabel Olsen and her husband Jim. Pallbearers were Austin, Travis, and David Timmons, David Farnsworth, Ryan Odum, and Alex Higgins. Honorary pallbearers were George Yauch, Buddy Raneiri, B.J. Morris, Bruce Affrunti, Richard Partridge, and Merlyn Higgins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Seneca Historical Guild, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, or the donor's choice.
