OTTAWA -- Ernest J. Mitchell Sr., 82, of Ottawa, died Monday, Sept. 10, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be two hours prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Mitchell was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Ottawa, to Valentine and Jean (Rochelle) Mitchell. He married Patricia A. Murphy on April 2, 1976, in Ottawa. He was employed by Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Company. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ernie Jr. (Sally), Tim and Patrick (Candice Eirhart), all of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Aaron Joseph, Sarah Jane, Amber and Dominic; and a brother, Bill (Elaine) of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Bob," and a sister, Rosemary Gerding. Memorials may be directed to the family.
